Dorothy "Kammie" Kamenshek (PT, '58) played for the Rockford Peaches of the All-American Girls Baseball League in the 1940s and early '50s. Kamenshek was the only player to be recruited by a men's team, led the league with a .292 career batting average and was considered the best player in professional women's baseball. In the movie A League of Their Own, it has been speculated that Geena Davis' character was loosely based on Kamenshek.

Ally Miller of the Marquette women's soccer team, who was named to the 2009 BIG EAST All-Rookie Team, was mentioned in a TopDrawerSoccer.com article as sophomore to watch during the 2010 season.
Below is what TopDrawerSoccer.com had to say about the Mequon, Wis. native.
Ally Miller, Marquette: Coaches always talk about having players on the field that can play multiple positions. They say in an ideal world, they don't want a defender, or a midfielder or a striker, but a "soccer player." Miller is a soccer player. She played a lot in the midfield with FC Milwaukee prior to her freshman season but found her minutes for the Golden Eagles as a defender. She has good size and earned a ton of minutes during a season that included the NCAAs. Miller is an interesting case and all bets are off in her future. She could just as easily end up being an all-conference defender or midfielder.
