Wesley Matthews confirmed with GoMarquette.com today that he has earned a guaranteed one-year contract with the NBA's Utah Jazz.
Matthews was notified of the team's decision by general manager Kevin O'Connor on Wednesday morning. Teams had until today to release any player they weren't going to keep for the remainder of the season.
Matthews, who was the first non-drafted rookie to start for an NBA team this season, will now become a free agent at the end of the 2009-10 season. He could also re-sign with the Jazz.
The Madison, Wis., native will now turn his attention to buying/leasing a new car as his first major purchase.
