In celebration of the Portland Trail Blazers' 40th anniversary, The Oregonian, is running a series on the 40 greatest Blazers of all time. Former Marquette great Maurice Lucas checks in at No. 5 on their list.
Lucas helped Marquette and head coach Al McGuire to the 1974 NCAA Championship Game before losing to North Carolina State. Lucas then led Portland to the 1977 NBA Championship.
"He was an exceptionally skilled power forward, with both an inside and outside game, which helped Marquette reach the NCAA title game in 1974. "
