Senior-to-be Ben Sieg was the only Golden Eagle to break par yesterday with a 1-under 71. He tied for third place along with six other individuals, including Dallas Cowboys quarterback and Burlington, Wis., native Tony Romo.
Sophomore Ryan Prickette and junior Matt Haase also advanced to a match play with a 75. Senior Kelly Kretz was on the cutline after shooting 76, but survived a 20-person playoff to earn one of the coveted 64 available spots.
Also representing MU Athletics in this year's field is staffer Joe True. True, who is re-living his glory days as a former collegiate golfer at Northern Illinois, is currently the Director of Development for the Golden Eagles. True carded a 76 and proceeded to birdie his first playoff hole to sneak into Tuesday's match play.
Mike McDonald, a senior in 2009-10, missed Monday's cut.
