Marquette University freshman Eric Pothast was ranked No. 25 in TopDrawerSoccer.com's most recent "College Players To Watch: Freshmen Top 100."
Pothast, a 6-foot-3 defender from Lake Zurich, Ill., has started all seven games for the Golden Eagles and is one of two MU players to play every minute of every match thus far.
Together, Pothast has teamed up with a backline and sophomore goalkeeper David Check to earn three shutouts on the season.
He was a three-time all-conference and all-area player at Lake Zurich High School where he was an NSCAA/adidas All-Midwest selection as a senior. Pothast played club soccer with Chicago Sockers FC.
The 1969 NCAA Tournament matchup between Marquette and Purdue will be featured on Sports32 Flashback this week, featuring video from the game and the original radio call.
The 90-minute show will debut on Sports32 at 7 p.m. CT on Sept. 23. Former MU great George Thompson is also interviewed during the program and looks back at the game. There are portions of the contest that were not filmed, including most of overtime.

The latest edition of Marquette Basketball: Revealed addresses who will take the leadership role on the court for the Golden Eagles in 2010-11.
First-year head men's golf coach Steve Bailey will be a call-in guest to the "Gardenian on Golf" radio show this Sunday, Sept. 19. The show airs from 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. CT., on ESPN Milwaukee 540 AM. Coach Bailey will join host Chuck Garbedian at approximately 8:05 a.m. You can also listen online at espnmilwaukee.com.
Bailey will join this Sunday's program from Louisville, Ky., where he'll be with the Golden Eagles as they prepare for the Cardinal Collegiate, Sept. 20-21.
This week's episode of Marquette Basketball: Revealed provides an introduction to the 2010-11 newcomers who are eligible to see game action in 2010-11.
The Marquette men's basketball team spent a total of almost 20 hours this past weekend preparing their contributions to the fan experience at Marquette Madness and all home games with the team's annual video shoot.
Thanks to a partnership with Tri-Marq Communications, the two-day shoot was able to capture all of the elements needed for the team intro video at Madness, along with all of the gameday elements necessary for the new Bradley Center jumbotron. Fans will recognize a number of the familiar favorites, as well as the debut of new segments.
Junior college transfer Jae Crowder has had an eventful first two weeks on campus, receiving a crash course to the lifesyle of a Marquette men's basketball player.
The Golden Eagles will take on UC Irvine Friday at 8 p.m. CT before playing No. 3 Stanford at 4 p.m. CT.
Thanks to the 2,089 fans who came to Valley Fields last night to watch the Marquette men's soccer team take on Milwaukee in the 2010 regular season opener. Also, thanks to Brian Bowsher, director of marketing and sales, who confirmed these attendance numbers for us.
