After capturing the BIG EAST American Division Championship for the second straight year the Marquette women's soccer team rose in the national rankings to No.13 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) poll and No. 12 according to Soccer America this week. The No. 13/12 ranking is the highest MU has been ranked this season.
Marquette was last ranked 12th or better in either poll during the 2005 season.
The Golden Eagles stand at No. 10 in the latest Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) of the 2010 season released on Tuesday, Oct. 26. The Golden Eagles stood at No. 13 in the first RPI released on Oct. 5, No. 11 in the Oct. 12th release and ninth in last week's RPI (Oct. 19).
The Golden Eagles have the second highest RPI in the BIG EAST only behind Notre Dame who is fifth.
Marquette enters the BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship as the No. 1 seed in the American Division for the second straight season. The Golden Eagles will host the winner of the DePaul (No. 4 National)/Pittsburgh (No. 5 American) first round match in the BIG EAST Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinals on Sunday, Oct. 31 at Valley Fields at 1 p.m.
