Ashley Bares' play with UMF Stjarnan is gaining attention for the former Marquette star in the top-division Urvalsdedild as she was named the league's mid-season player of the year.

The Iceland soccer website, Fó, which is owned by the Football Association of Iceland (KSI), picked Bares as the top performer through nine matches. Fó also named her Urvalsdedild's top foreign player for the first half of the season.

Stjarnan sits in first place in Urvalsdedild with an 8-1-0 record, while Bares leads the league with 11 goals through nine games.  She has scored at least two goals in all but two games during the first half of the season.
