Former Marquette women's soccer player and 2010 Marquette graduate, Ashley Bares, capped her first professional season in Iceland with a championship for Stjarnan. It was the club's first Urvalsdeild championship and qualifies Stjarnan for the 2012-2013 UEFA Women's Champions League.
The Belgium, Wis. native tallied 21 goals in 18 matches and was the recipient of the Golden Boot, given to the league leader in goals at the end of the season. Bares was also named the league's top player for the first half of the season.
