MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's and women's lacrosse teams took time out of their busy practice schedules Wednesday morning to lead a lacrosse demonstration on the Westtown Plaza in front of the Alumni Memorial Union for Native American youth.

The demonstration, held as part of "Take a Positive Spin," A Conference on Native Youth Suicide and Prevention, taught the fundamental skills of a game deeply rooted in Native American ritual and tradition.

The conference, which included Native youth enrolled in Milwaukee Public Schools, the Indian Community School of Milwaukee and schools on Wisconsin reservations, was presented by First Nations Studies, MPS, and focused on bringing light to a serious public health problem in Native communities.
