The Los Angeles Athletic Club announced the 15 finalists for the John R. Wooden Award Tuesday, and the list included Marquette senior forward Jae Crowder. Crowder, who was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team on Sunday, is joined on the list by fellow BIG EAST first-teamers Kris Joseph of Syracuse and Kevin Jones of West Virginia.
Crowder is one of three players on the list that did not make the midseason Wooden list, but who have played their way onto the ballot in the second half of the season. Austin Rivers of Duke and Isaiah Canaan of Murray State also earned their spot not the ballot in the last few months.
Crowder has put together a fantastic senior season for Marquette, averaging 17.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.
Voting for the Wooden Award begins March 12. The voters have until March 19 to return their ballot. Winners will be honored at the 36th annual Wooden Award Gala on Friday, April 6.
