| No Comments | No TrackBacks

"Throwback Thursday" is a weekly feature in the Social Summer Series

In honor of recent graduate Peter Bolgert's selection as a three-time Academic All-America, Throwback Thursday takes a look back at the only other two-time first team Academic All-Americans in Marquette history, men's basketball player Marc Marotta and men's soccer player Scott Ziemba. Marotta was a three-time first team honoree from 1982-84, while Ziemba earned first team honors in both 1996 and 1997.

Scott Ziemba
Bolgert, Marotta, Kristen Maskala of women's basketball and Amy Erickson of women's cross country and track and field are the only three-time Academic All-America selections.

In total, MU student-athletes have earned Academic All-America distinction 33 times, starting with men's basketball players Bill Neary and Gary Rosenberger in 1976-77.
