MILWAUKEE - Roughly 40 members of the Marquette University men's track and field team gathered Sunday morning at Estabrook Park to help eliminate invasive plant species. Senior Kyle Winter, the defending BIG EAST Conference champion in the indoor 800-meter run, organized the effort through the Volunteer Center of Milwaukee and the squad worked for three hours to clear buckthorn and honeysuckle, two invasive plants threatening the park.
"The men's team really enjoys these types of activities," Marquette head coach Bert Rogers sad. "Not only did we spend some quality time bonding as a team, we also helped out the Milwaukee County Parks. With about 40 men all working hard together, we made a significant visual difference in the area that we were working."
