Marquette's Fall Sports Thrive in 2012

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
Three of Marquette's fall sports programs are off to unprecedented starts to their 2012 campaigns.

Men's soccer is currently one of only three undefeated and untied squads (8-0-0) in the nation and is ranked seventh in the country by Soccer America, the program's highest ranking ever.

The Marquette women's soccer team has continued its excellence under head coach Markus Roeders and currently sits at 7-2-1 overall and is ranked 13th by TopDrawerSoccer.com and 19th in the latest NSCAA/adidas Top 25 Poll. The MU women were also ranked in the top 10 earlier this season.

Bond Shymansky has the women's volleyball squad off to its best start in his four-year tenure at 10-3 and is receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Poll.

The three programs have a combined winning percentage of .806 (25-5-1) to lead all BIG EAST Conference institutions and are 5-0-0 in league play.

Orsen Helps Chesapeake Claim MLL Championship

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

MILWAUKEE - Marquette University assistant men's lacrosse coach, John Orsen, helped the Chesapeake Bayhawks capture the Major League Lacrosse (MLL) title on Sunday, Aug. 26 in Boston, Mass.

The Bayhawks topped the Denver Outlaws, 16-6, in front of a crowd of 7,000-plus at Harvard Stadium to claim the organization's fourth MLL championship.

Orsen, who played in nine games this season for the Bayhawks, recorded three ground balls in the title match as a short stick defender.

Check out this angle of Sebastian Jansson's game-winning goal against Milwaukee as time expires. It doesn't get any closer than this. TopDrawerSoccer.com has called it "the greatest finish you'll ever see."
