BloodCenter, MU Announce Bleed Blue & Gold Partnership
Jan. 6, 2016 BloodCenter of Wisconsin, Marquette Athletics and Learfield Sports’ Marquette Sports Properties have partnered to support the Bleed Blue & Gold 1,000 campaign running throughout the 2015-16 college basketball season.
The goal of the campaign is to collect 1,000 blood donations before the conclusion of the season. The partnership educates students, faculty, alumni and fans that blood donations save lives, and encourages them to join the partnership and help BloodCenter of Wisconsin and Marquette reach the goal by donating blood. Donors will be recognized for their participation throughout the campaign.
“We’re proud to partner with Marquette Athletics and Learfield Sports to raise awareness about the critical importance of blood donation,” said BloodCenter Public Relations Director Fay Spano. “Marquette and BloodCenter are both vital to our community, and working together, we can make a life-saving impact on patients in need.”
Marquette Radio Network talents Jim McIlvaine and Steve “Homer” True are excited to participate in the Bleed Blue & Gold 1,000 campaign initiatives throughout the season in an effort to maximize participation from Marquette students, faculty, alumni and fans.
“Donating blood to save lives is a mission I support and I am excited to get behind the Bleed Blue & Gold 1,000 campaign. Donors will be recognized with Marquette Athletics prizes including game tickets, t-shirts, an autographed team basketball and the opportunity to meet Marquette Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski during the campaign.
The Bleed Blue & Gold 1,000 campaign will employ Marquette radio, game day, social media and campus assets to support the goal of collecting 1,000 units of blood before the end of the basketball season.
