Marquette 39th in Final Fall Directors' Cup Standings

Marquette men's soccer won its first NCAA tournament game against Akron during the fall.

MILWAUKEE - After the completion of all nine fall NCAA championships, Marquette University sits 39th in the final fall NCAA Division I Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Standings, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced on Jan. 9.

The Golden Eagles are second among non-football playing institutions with 139.00 points and sit third in the BIG EAST Conference, behind Georgetown (18th, 216.00) and Providence (20th, 208.50), which captured the NCAA crown in women's cross country.

Marquette earned 64 points from men's soccer advancing to the NCAA Championship regional semifinals for the first time in program history and 50 points from women's volleyball making the NCAA Second Round. The women's soccer program also racked up 25 points after making its sixth NCAA Championship appearance in as many years.

All three programs won BIG EAST regular season and tournament championships during the fall and each ended the year in the top 11 of their respective NCAA RPI rankings.

Men's and women's cross country in addition to women's field hockey, men's water polo and football (both FBS and FCS) are the other sports counted in the final standings.
