MILWAUKEE - Marquette student-athletes stepped away from the comfort of their sports on Tuesday night and participated in a "So You Think You've Got Talent" competition at the Al McGuire Center. The event was hosted by the Marquette Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for the first time in an effort to celebrate National Student-Athlete Day for the Golden Eagles.

Junior women's soccer player Maegan Kelly and men's soccer sophomore John Mau were the hosts for the evening's competition, which included acts from women's track and field, women's basketball, volleyball, women's lacrosse and men's soccer, along with a group of coaches.

"The talent show went great," SAAC president and volleyball junior Rachel Stier said. "We wanted to do an event to celebrate National Student-Athlete Day that everyone could partake in. When we chose to do the talent show we were a little nervous about not having any acts or not having that many people to show up. But tonight was a huge success! All the acts that performed were fantastic and we had a great turnout. We are looking forward to doing a talent show again next year."

Winners were decided by crowd applause from the number of student-athletes who were in attendance from each sport. After all the acts performed the women's track and field act was declared the winner for performing a song and dance from the movie Pitch Perfect.

"This was the first time that SAAC put on an event like this and it went really well," SAAC rep and Assistant AD for Academic Services, Adrienne Ridgeway said. "We hope the students will run with it and build on the event to make it larger. The students were very committed to the talent show, which helped make it a fun, successful event."
