Katie Glunt Named Assistant AD for Marketing/Fan Engagement
May 3, 2016 Katie Glunt has joined Marquette University as the Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing & Fan Engagement, Deputy Athletic Director Brian Hardin announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Windsor, California native arrives in Milwaukee after most recently serving as the Director of Marketing and Branding at SMU for the past three seasons. Under her direction, the department set multiple tickets sales records in men’s basketball, including a significant increase in student attendance. She oversaw the marketing efforts for each of the University’s 17 programs, specifically working with football and men’s and women’s basketball.
Glunt earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Oregon State in 2006 and her master’s in sport management from the University of San Francisco in 2009. She has also worked at the West Coast Conference, Emerald Bowl and Wichita State.
“We are thrilled to welcome Katie to the Marquette athletics department,” Hardin said. “Katie’s track record of success at a private institution in a major metropolitan area and previously at a school that also has a passionate men’s basketball fan base helped separate her from a very talented applicant pool.
“Her background in improving the fan experience and driving ticket sales and social media strategies should make her a great addition to our team,’ Hardin added.
In related news, the department’s marketing and ticketing efforts will become two units. Glunt will head up the Marketing and Fan Engagement staff and Brian Morgan (Assistant AD for Ticket Sales & Strategy) will lead the Ticket Sales and Service Unit.
Cronkite has been with the marketing staff in athletics at Marquette since 2008, when he joined the University as an intern. He has served as the primary marketing contact for the women’s basketball team and also assists with the promotion of all 16 varsity programs. He earned his bachelor’s of business administration in advertising and promotion from Western Michigan University in 2007.
“For many years, Greg has been a key contributor to a strong marketing department at Marquette,” Hardin said. “This title promotion not only reflects the quality of work he has performed, but also our expectation that he continues to guide our department in a forward direction.”
Worzalla is finishing his fourth year with the University, but his second stint with athletics. He previously worked with Nelligan Sports Marketing, helping coordinating the department’s corporate sponsorship efforts. He is a 2008 graduate of UW-Milwaukee and owns a degree in advertising and public relations. Worzalla completed his graduate degree in sports leadership at Marquette in 2015.
“Michael did a great job this past year in essentially performing the roles of two jobs, with only himself being the lone full-time employee in the ticket office,” Hardin said. “I look forward to seeing his continued growth in this position and the impact he can have on our ticket operations and customer service areas.”
