The Week in Review ...

Outdoor Track and Field

? Freshman Cassie Peller, senior Andrea Engelmann, sophomore Jeremy Williams and senior Brianna Dahm had the highest finishes of any Marquette student-athletes at the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Peller came in second in the 1,500 meters. Engelmann also had a second place finish in the hammer throw and Williams placed second in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase. Dahm placed second in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase as well.

On the men?s side, sophomore Matt Piekarski and Jonathan Rosploch were the highest point scorers. Piekarski earned 11 total points for a third-place finish in the decathlon and a fourth in the javelin. Rosploch scored 11 with a third in the shot put and a fourth in the hammer. Dahm was the highest scorer on the women?s side, earning 14 points. She also placed third in the 1,500 meters.

The men had five multi-event scorers. Williams also claimed eighth in the 5,000 meters in addition to his Steeplechase success. Sophomore Damian Anisko and freshman Mike Boedeker placed in the same two events, coming in fourth and eighth respectively in the discus and third and eighth in the hammer throw. Rosploch also placed fourth in the hammer to round out a three-place event for Marquette.

Each team had at least one event with three placements. Rosploch, Anisko and Boedeker performed that feat in the hammer for the men. Dahm was joined by a fourth place from Terri Emond and a sixth from Tara Hinke in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase. Peller, Dahm and freshman Kaitlyn Chambers (seventh) all placed in the 1,500 meters.

The men had five third place finishers or better. In addition to the aforementioned, freshman Joe Pierre placed third in the 800 meters. The women also had five, with junior Jodi Jakubek?s third place in the 5,000 meters joining the previously listed honors.

The men?s team finished the event in sixth place, while the women?s team placed 10th.
