Division of Student Affairs Recognizes Three Student-Athletes
June 5, 2013
The Marquette University Division of Student Affairs recently recognized students for leadership and involvement in all areas of student life. Three MU student-athletes were presented with a 2012-2013 Leadership Award.
Bryan Ciesiulka, a senior on the men's soccer team, won the leadership award for Outstanding Contributions to Recreation, Health, and Wellness. Fellow men's soccer player, John Mau, a redshirt junior, was recognized for his Outstanding Contributions to Peer Education. Senior defensive specialist, Rachel Stier, represented women's volleyball with the award for her Outstanding Contributions to Student Governance and Organization Leadership.
For 44 years, the Division of Student Affairs has been honoring students for their performance in eight areas of student life that include outstanding contributions to Celebration and Promotion to Diversity, Community Service, Peer Education, Recreation, Health, and Wellness, Social and Arts Programming, Spiritual Development and Justice Education, Student Governance and Organization Leadership and specific Class Member Awards.
The nominations for these awards are made by staff members throughout the university, but students are selected by the committee that represents each of the Student Affairs departments.
Recipients are students who have made an outstanding contribution to Marquette University or the Milwaukee community through their leadership by creating student programs or services through Campus Ministry, student organizations or the Student Affairs departments.
