Asst. Athletics Director Kathryn Statz To Leave Marquette
July 29, 2002
Milwaukee -- Marquette University Assistant Athletics Director Kathryn Statz, a member of the school's intercollegiate athletic department for the past eight years, has announced that she is leaving the school to assume the role of Associate Athletic Director For Varsity Sports at DePaul University. Statz's last day at Marquette will be Aug. 6.
During her tenure at Marquette, Statz served as the Assistant AD for Compliance and Olympic Sports Marketing. Among her duties at Marquette, she coordinated the initial recruiting and eligibility certification process, oversaw the women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, golf, and men's and women's track teams, and served as the department's Senior Woman Administrator and chair of the university's Gender Equity Committee. In addition, she was responsible for monitoring all varsity athletic teams to assure NCAA rules compliance.
"Marquette and its people have been a home to me for nearly eight years, and it is difficult to leave such a great environment," said Statz. "At the same time, the situation at DePaul is extremely exciting. It offers me a chance to remain a part of Conference USA and to take on new challenges.
"This opportunity is available to me because of the experiences I was lucky to have here at Marquette. I can't thank the staff and coaches enough for all they have given to me as colleagues and friends."
"We at Marquette are extremely grateful for all of Kathryn's outstanding work and we wish her nothing but the best," said MU athletic director Bill Cords. "She will have additional responsibilities there, and they are getting a person who will do a great job, not only for them but for Conference USA as well because of her dedication in wanting the league to succeed."
