Women?s Soccer (4-0)

? A pair of goals by Christy Zwolski gave 20th-ranked Marquette a 2-1 win over Drake Friday at Valley Fields. Zwolski scored her second goal of the contest and third of the season, netting the strike nearly four minutes into the first overtime period. Zwolski blasted home a short shot passed Drake keeper Erin Jarvis, who was helpless to make a stop. Meghan Connelly and Lauren Weber had assists on the play. Weber fed Zwolski for Marquette?s first goal of the match.

Appleton native Alison Loughrin scored the Golden Eagles' only goal despite launching 24 shots as a team as 20th-ranked Marquette defeated Wis.-Green Bay, 1-0, on Sunday night. Loughrin's goal came in the 51st minute as she beat UWGB's Brooke Wikgren from six yards out on a one-timer. Britini Benage scored her first point of the season, feeding Loughrin on a cross for the assist. The win improved Marquette to 4-0 for the first time since the 2000 season. Marquette has never started a season 5-0.

Men?s Soccer (1-1)

? Ohio State's Kevin Nugent scored in the 14th minute and it would stand up as the winning tally as the 18th-ranked Buckeyes shut out Marquette, 1-0 at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Marquette rebounded after being out-shot in the first half with a solid effort in the second half. The Golden Eagles had three scoring chances, with the best coming from Matt Blouin with four minutes remaining. The Marquette forward played a ball toward the net that bent to late as it sailed passed the Ohio State goal.

The Marquette men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over no. 23 Penn State on Sunday. Marquette was the more aggressive team in the first half, owning a 4-1 advantage in shots. Duncan Silvert-Noftle picked up his first career goal thanks to that aggressiveness. Matt Blouin assisted the freshman as he broke away down the left side toward the goal and past Penn State keeper Conrad Taylor.
