Midnight Madness highlights two-day basketball festival

October 8 - Marquette University?s men?s and women?s basketball teams will tip-off the 2004-05 campaign by hosting their first-ever Hoopsfest sponsored by FreedomRoads on October 15 & 16 at the Al McGuire Center.

The two-day basketball festival is highlighted by Marquette Madness ? MU?s version of midnight madness ? beginning at 10:30 p.m. on Friday. Held on campus for the first time in the program?s history, the college basketball ritual will feature John Mason, public address announcer for the NBA Champion Detroit Pistons. Mason received national acclaim during the 2004 NBA Finals for his colorful player introductions and in-game presentation during Pistons? home games.

Hoopsfest continues on Saturday with McGuire Center tours, interactive games, and scrimmages for both the men?s and women?s teams. Former Marquette basketball greats, along with the current players and coaches will be available for autographs and photos following the scrimmages.

The weekend?s events officially get underway on Friday at 7:00 p.m., with a party on 12th Street featuring live music from The Boogiemen, interactive games, free food and soft drinks.

All events during the two days are free and open to the public.
