The Week in Review ...

Women?s Soccer (8-6-1, 4-2-1 C-USA)

? The first 11 minutes of the Marquette?s women?s soccer match with TCU gave the Golden Eagles a big advantage as it held off the Horned Frogs for a 3-2 win on Friday. Senior Claire Weber, junior Heather Goranson, and junior defender Sarah Uyenishi picked up goals. Marquette won its second straight match, defeating Houston, 3-0, on Sunday. Sophomore Meghan Connelly , sophomore Alison Loughrin, and junior Kristie Matola found the net.

Men?s Soccer (3-8-1, 0-5-1 C-USA)

? The Marquette men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Charlotte on Saturday under cold and windy conditions at Valley Fields. Freshman Mike Manone beat his defender and found sophomore Matt Blouin on a cross for the score. It was Blouin's third goal of the season.

Volleyball (13-5, 3-2 C-USA)

? Freshman Kimberley Todd set a collegiate best with 24 kills as Marquette defeated USF, 3-0 (27-30, 30-23, 30-27, 33-31), in Tampa, Fla. on Friday night. Marquette out-killed USF 72-67. The next night, Marquette upped its win streak to a season-best four matches, defeating UAB, 3-0 (30-15, 30-18, 30-19). Marquette was led by sophomore Jamie Mueller, who had 14 kills.

Cross Country

? The Marquette men's and 30th ranked women's cross country teams competed Saturday at the Pre-NCAA Meet in Terre Haute, Ind. The women took 13th place in the "Blue" Division while the men placed 30th in the "Blue" Division, 37 teams competed in each division. The women were led by junior Jodi Jakubek who placed 37th overall. Junior Brent Des Roches again led the men, taking 71st place.

Men?s Tennis

? The Marquette men's tennis team closed out a successful weekend of play as it hosted the Marquette University Fall Invitational. The doubles duo of freshman Brett Binkley and senior Troy Delmege went 3-0. The Golden Eagles also fared well against the Phoenix in singles, sweeping their Saturday evening match up.

Women?s Tennis

? The Marquette women?s tennis team competed in the 20-team Wolfpack Fall Invitational. The doubles tandem of sophomore Dominika Dabrowski and freshmen Elsemieke Doktor advanced to the tournament?s semifinal round, pacing Marquette. Callan Smith also had a successful tournament, picking up singles and doubles victories.


? The Marquette golf team finished in ninth place at the Xavier Invitational. Freshman Ted Gray finished as Marquette's low scorer, placing 15th. He shot a final round 73 to finish at one-under, 215.

? Senior setter Sarah Vernon won her second C-USA Setter-of-the-Week award on Monday, Oct. 11.

Wednesday, Oct. 20

? Men?s soccer hits the road for its first of four away matches taking on DePaul in Chicago, Ill., at 2 p.m.

Thursday, Oct. 21

? Members of the Marquette men?s and women?s tennis teams will compete in the ITA Midwest Regionals, which run through Tuesday, Oct. 26. The men?s tournament is in Ann Arbor, Mich., while the women?s tournament is in Minneapolis, Minn.

Friday, Oct. 22

? Women?s soccer hits the road for a Conference USA matchup with Memphis.

? Volleyball returns home riding a four-match winning streak. The Golden Eagles take on Houston at 7 p.m. at the Al McGuire Center.

Saturday, Oct. 23

? Men?s soccer continues its road trip, visiting USF at 7 p.m. EDT in Tampa, Fla.

? Volleyball meets TCU at 7 p.m. in the Al McGuire Center in a key Conference USA battle.

Sunday, Oct. 24

? Women?s soccer returns home to take on Tulane at 1 p.m. at Valley Fields. It is the last home Conference USA match for the Marquette women?s soccer team.

Also This Week ...

? The Marquette men?s basketball team will have an open scrimmage at the Al McGuire Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21.
