NCAA Press Release

MILWAUKEE - Marquette University will host the second and third rounds of the 2014 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, scheduled for March 20-22, 2014, the NCAA announced Monday.

"We are quite pleased to chosen as hosts for the 2014 Men's Basketball Championships," said MU vice president and director of athletics Larry Williams. "In many respects this affirms the commitment to, and stature of, the Milwaukee and Marquette communities, relative to premiere college basketball."

It marks the seventh time that Marquette will host the postseason tournament. MU and the BMO Harris Bradley Center last hosted the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship First- and Second-Round in 2010, while also serving as NCAA tournament hosts in 2004, 1999, 1996, 1992 and for the first time in 1984.

"Excited is the operative word," said Marquette tournament director and senior athletics director Jim Nasiopulos. "We are excited that the NCAA Men's Basketball Committee has awarded this Championship to Marquette University, the BMO Harris Bradley Center, and the City of Milwaukee.

"The Committee places a great deal of weight in hosting the Championship in cities and venues where the teams and fans will have great experiences and play before sold out crowds. They also look at hosting experience and we certainly have things covered on that front. Many key members of the Marquette Intercollegiate and the BMO Harris staffs are veterans going back as far as the 1992 Championship."

Tickets will be made available to Marquette season-ticket holders and constituents before going on sale to the general public. An announcement will be made regarding ticket sales at a later date.

Winners of the second-and third-round games advance to one of four regional sites.
