Cords to Be Recognized at Halftime of Wisconsin Game

MILWAUKEE - Marquette Director of Athletics Bill Cords will be recognized at halftime of the Marquette/Wisconsin men's basketball game at the Bradley Center on Saturday, December 9.
Cords is in his 20th and final year as Director of Athletics. He is retiring on December 31, 2006.
In his 20 years of service to Marquette, Cords has pushed Marquette Athletics on to the national spectrum in all sports. He was instrumental in the department's growth over the past two decades.
Cords' accomplishments over the past 20 years include: moving Marquette from the Midwestern Collegiate Conference to the Great Midwest Conference, then to Conference USA and ultimately to the BIG EAST Conference; the building of the Al McGuire Center, the state-of-the-art practice and competition facility for basketball and volleyball; the construction of Valley Fields, the soccer and track and field teams competition and practice facility; hosting NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championships First and Second Rounds at the Bradley Center three times; hosting an NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Regional at the U.S. Cellular Arena; hosting early rounds of the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Championship five times; and hosting countless conference championships.
