Ike Ogata enters his third season in 2017-18 as an assistant athletic trainer at Marquette University. His current responsibilities include providing medical coverage for the men's and women's track and field and cross country teams.
Prior to joining Marquette, Ogata earned a master's degree in health and human physiology with an athletic training subtrack from the University of Iowa. He served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Hawkeye baseball team for two years.
Before his graduate work, Ogata completed a one year dual-internship in Dallas, Texas, where he worked for Southern Methodist University's football and track and field teams. He also provided NBA game day coverage for the Dallas Mavericks.
In 2012, Ogata worked for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the AA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, as part of a summer internship program immediately following his graduation from Kansas State. At K-State, he earned an undergraduate degree in athletic training with a minor in kinesiology. He assisted with the Wildcat football, track and field and baseball programs as an athletic training student.
His clinical interests involve biomechanical gait analysis, chronic overhead and running injuries, developing integrative prevention strategies, soft tissue mobilization and optimal tissue regeneration.
The Morioka, Japan native is a NATA BOC certified athletic trainer and licensed through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
Ogata currently resides in Milwaukee.
