JJ Bonk enters his thirdseason as an assistant athletic trainer at Marquette University.
Bonk is responsible for women's volleyball and the cheer teams at Marquette.
Prior to joining the Golden Eagles, Bonk worked as an athletic trainer at Northwestern University with the women's fencing and the women's swimming and diving teams. Bonk also worked with the Chicago Cubs as an athletic training student intern.
Bonk graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology and health promotion from the University of Kentucky in 2011, and would go on to receive his master's in athletic training from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in 2014.
At Nebraska-Omaha, he spent time as an athletic training student with the men's ice hockey team and men's golf team. He was tasked with creating a concussion protocol which was in accordance with the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook.
Bonk, originally from Naperville, Illinois, and he and his wife Cassie currently reside in Milwaukee.
