Joe True enters his 13th year on the Marquette athletics staff and serves as Associate Athletic Director for Development. True provides leadership and oversight on all fundraising functions and initiatives for the athletic department. He also serves as a member of the University Advancement Leadership Team and the Universities Principal Gift Team.

True began his career at Marquette as an intern for the Blue & Gold Athletic Scholarship Fund in July 2005 and has served in multiple fundraising roles during his tenure. His main responsibilities have been soliciting leadership and major gifts for the athletic department, with an emphasis on growing the Blue & Gold Athletic Scholarship Fund and the Athletic Endowed Scholarship Program. Under True's leadership, the number of endowed scholarships for the department has doubled, annual giving to sport discretionary funds have increased and the department has hit records in annual dollars raised for six consecutive years.

Recently, the Blue and Gold Fund staff has focused on developing and implementing sport specific annual giving programs and led on securing philanthropic support for the Air Supported Seasonal Structure in Valley Fields, a climate-controlled competition and training facility for multiple Marquette athletic teams. True has been the architect behind the rebranding and re-launching of the Blue and Gold Fund Auction, which has raised $1.5M in three years for student-athlete scholarships, including $700,000 last year.

Prior to his arrival at Marquette, Joe was a graduate assistant in the athletic ticket office at Northern Illinois University and served as an operations intern with the American Junior Golf Organization.

Joe received a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and Masters of Science in Sports Management from Northern Illinois University. He was a four-year letter winner on the NIU golf team and served as President of the Student Athlete Advisory Council for two years. He is currently a member of The National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD).
