The 2013-14 campaign will mark the second at Marquette University for Jon Thorsen, who serves as the Director of Sales for Nelligan Sports Marketing.
Prior to joining Nelligan Sports, Thorsen was Manager of Sponsorship Development at Churchill Downs Incorporated's track in greater Chicago, Arlington Park. He was responsible for managing current sponsor relationships, as well as accruing new ones. He increased revenue by creating promotions and unique advertising opportunities that benefitted sponsors branding efforts, utilizing Arlington's major events throughout the season, including the Kentucky Derby and Arlington Million.
Prior to Arlington Park, Thorsen was Sales Manager for the BMO Harris Bank Center and Rockford IceHogs in Rockford, Ill. While there, he led a team that tripled corporate sponsorship revenue in four years, including the first two naming rights partners. Additional highlights included being selected employee of the year by his peers and working with the Blackhawks on special appearances by their hall of fame ambassadors and players.
Thorsen got his start in developing corporate partnerships with the Wisconsin Sports Development Corporation by managing events such as the Badger State Games and Ford Ironman Wisconsin.
Raised in Franklin, Wis., Thorsen went on to receive his undergraduate degree at University of Wisconsin-Platteville before completing his master's at Northern Illinois University.
Jon resides in Milwaukee with his wife, Melissa.
