Lydell Sargeant enters his second year on the Marquette Athletics staff and serves as Director for Development. He represents the university in a variety of roles and is responsible for major gifts for the athletics department.
As Director of Development at Utah Valley, Sargeant directed all facets of UVU Athletics Wolverine Club, UVU Athletics' sole booster club, annual fund and athletic scholarship fundraising. Sargeant also led UVU Athletics' ticketing, retail sales and special events departments. At UVU Sargeant guided the Wolverine Club to record breaking fundraising years in 2015 and 2016, in addition to significant increases in ticket sales, merchandising, event revenue and staff donations.
Previous to UVU, Sargeant served as Assistant Athletic Director at Penn State University where he worked under Associate Athletic Director Fran Ganter assisting in a variety of administrative aspects for Penn State football.
Lydell received his B.S. from Penn State University in 2008 and played defensive back for coach Joe Paterno and the Nittany Lions from 2005 until 2008. As a four-year letterman and All-Big Ten cornerback he was a member of Penn State's 2005 and 2008 Big Ten Championship teams, playing in the BCS Orange Bowl and Rose Bowl. Sargeant went on to play in the NFL as a cornerback for the Buffalo Bills until a career ending knee injury in 2010.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Sargeant received his master's degree in Sport Management Studies from California University of Pennsylvania in 2013. He resides in Milwaukee with his wife, Nicole.
