Shea Dunbar enters his second year at Marquette University in 2017-18 as the Assistant Director of Compliance.
Dunbar oversees and educates Marquette student-athletes, athletics staff and donors to ensure compliance with NCAA, BIG EAST, and institutional rules and regulations. Amongst other responsibilities, he handles all transfer documentation, monitors recruiting and practice hours, manages practice & playing season for each sport, oversees all camps and clinics, processes all donation requests, approves student-athlete opportunity fund requests and handles any day-to-day compliance work for men's and women's basketball, men’s and women’s lacrosse and women's volleyball.
Prior to his time at Marquette, Dunbar served as the compliance coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University during the 2015-16 academic year. In that time, he implemented a new system for monitoring recruiting and assisted with medical hardship and legislative relief waivers.
In 2014-15, Dunbar served as the Compliance Intern at Northwestern University. While in Evanston, he gained experience working with the NCAA Eligibility Center, meeting financial aid guidelines and working with student-athlete employment, off-campus housing, camps and clinics. During the 2013-14 academic year, he served as a graduate assistant in the compliance office at Iowa State University.
Dunbar received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Virginia Tech and a juris doctorate from Drake University, where he was a student attorney at the Drake Legal Clinic in Des Moines, Iowa.
The Gainesville, Florida native was raised in Fairfax, Virginia and currently resides in New Berlin with his wife, Sara.
