Student-athletes gained valuable knowledge about potential careers

Katie Simet is in her third year at Marquette University as an Academic Advisor and Learning Specialist in the athletic department. In her role, Simet is the academic advisor for the women's volleyball and men's and women's lacrosse teams, as well as helping to provide all student-athletes with strategies to achieve academic success. She recently completed the third year of the NCAA alcohol CHOICES grant, providing alcohol programming to student-athletes and the Marquette student body.
Prior to MU, Simet served as an assistant residence hall director at Seattle University and an elementary teacher in the Milwaukee area.
In 2006 she earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and elementary education from Marquette University and master's degree of education in student development administration from Seattle University in 2010.
