BIG EAST Announces 2013-14 All-Academic Team

MILWAUKEE - The BIG EAST Conference has announced the names of more than 2,000 student-athletes who have been selected to the 2013-14 BIG EAST All-Academic Team and Marquette was well represented having 195 of its nearly 300 student-athletes recognized.
Women's Lacrosse led all Marquette programs having 28 student-athletes named to the team, followed closely by women's soccer with 27 and men's lacrosse with 20. Women's track and men's soccer had 16 student-athletes recognized while women's soccer and volleyball tallied 15.
Women's cross country also achieved the highest team GPA of any program at Marquette during the year, which includes a 3.54 team GPA last semester. Men's golf was close behind and represented the highest team GPA of all men's sports at Marquette.
To go along with the 195 student-athletes to be honored, Marquette also had 15 student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester.
Nominations for the All-Academic Team are submitted by each of the BIG EAST's 10 member and five affiliate institutions. To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in a BIG EAST-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
