TCU Joins BIG EAST Conference
Texas Christian University and the BIG EAST announced that TCU will join the BIG EAST Conference beginning in the 2012-2013 school year. TCU is a high quality academic and athletic institution and a natural fit in the BIG EAST Conference. We welcome TCU to the conference and look forward to the competition.

Hank Raymonds
Lastly, as you know, we lost a wonderful friend and Marquette family member this past December. Hank Raymonds will always be remembered for the heartfelt warmth and support he shared with all Marquette student-athletes and supporters. I will always cherish the time I spent with him; he was a great coach, athletic director and tremendous man. Our community mourns his passing.

Remembering Hank Raymonds

Henry "Hank" Raymonds was perhaps best known for the 126 wins he compiled as head men's basketball coach at Marquette University, and before that for serving as Al McGuire's top assistant during the team's NCAA championship run in the late 1970s.... JSOnline link

Growing Our Investments

Marquette athletics strategically plans ahead for the future just as any organization and individual does to protect and grow its current investments. One critical way to enhance the future for those who value Marquette athletics and its importance to the university is through estate planning. For those who do, it is important to share this information with us.

There are several ways to address critical initiatives for student-athletes through estate planning. Through estates: endowed scholarships can be established; gifts can be made to current endowments; contributions to the Blue & Gold Fund made; and direct benefits to individual sport operating budgets. In addition, designating existing endowments or the Blue & Gold Fund as memorial gifts is appreciated.

The reason it is important to share with Marquette if athletics is already in your estate plans is to ensure that your intent and wishes are fulfilled. Endowed scholarship agreements can be signed now so your legacy is carried on exactly as you wish. The dollar amount received - as described in the agreement - can be indicative of whether a new endowment is established, an existing one added to or given to the Blue & Gold Fund. In all cases, Marquette fully stipulates that there is no obligation on the part of an estate to meet a dollar threshold and agreements are normally revocable.

Recognition is given to those who share we are in their charitable estate plans by both Marquette athletics and membership in the university's St. Ignatius Legacy Society. The vehicles for estate planning are diverse and can be both current or deferred including: inclusion in will; gifts of life insurance; gifts of individual retirement accounts; gift annuities; revocable living trusts; charitable lead trusts; and others. Your estate advisor will know what is best for your situation.

Whether Marquette athletics is already in your estate plans or if you are considering establishing a permanent legacy, you are encouraged to discuss this with us on a confidential basis. Please contact Paul McInerny, associate athletic director, at or (414) 313-3365, or any member of the athletic development staff or Marquette's estate planning office.
