Men's Basketball Reseating FAQ's
Nov. 3, 2011
Why does Marquette Athletics conduct Reseating? Reseating is conducted every two years so that donors to the Blue & Gold Fund and to other University funds can have the best possible seating options. Many season ticket holders look at the Reseating period as the best opportunity to improve their seat location by increasing their annual donation to the Blue & Gold Fund. The Blue & Gold Fund is vital to the success of Marquette Athletics as all dollars raised through the Blue & Gold Fund support student-athlete scholarships. Marquette competes in 16 intercollegiate sports and provides partial and full scholarship funding to over 175 student-athletes. Currently, Marquette funds the equivalence of 95 full tuition scholarships at a total cost of approximately $4.4 million ($43,122/full-tuition scholarship). The ultimate goal of the Blue & Gold Fund is to fully fund the 135 NCAA maximum number of full-tuition scholarships on an Annual basis. It looks like my past donations aren’t counting for as many points as last time…Why? Donations that are given in the Current Reseating Period are weighted more heavily than donations given in the past reseating periods. Past fiscal year gifts are depreciated at a onetime rate. Current Reseating Period Gifts: • Any gift to the Blue & Gold Fund in the Current Reseating Period will receive 1 point for every $100 donated. Past Fiscal Year Gifts • Any past gift to the Blue & Gold Fund from July 1, 1995 – June 30, 2011 will receive 1 point for every $250 donated.
Please note: To be sure you are receiving points for your gifts, you need to accept the points (QUID, 80/20 rule) for your gift. When and Where will the Reseating take place? Reseating will take place online in June of 2013. Marquette athletics plans on Reseating men’s basketball season ticket holders every two years. Following the Reseating in the summer of 2013, the next Reseating will be in the summer of 2015, prior to the 2015 – 2016 season. How many seats can I select at the time of Reseating? Each season ticket holder account is eligible to select up to four (4) seats during its Reseating time. If a season ticket holder wants to select more than four (4) seats, the accounts priority points will be divided in half for purchase of up to eight (8) seats, divided into thirds for purchase of up to twelve (12) seats, etc. What is more important, my ranking or my points? Points determine your rank. However, ranking is the most important figure to look at. For example, if you are ranked at 500, you will have 499 accounts select before you. There have been cases where an account has increased points from previous reseatings, but has dropped its ranking. Is it possible to select seats with another season ticket holder? Yes, if you would like to sit with someone please indicate this on your appointment response form. The individual with the lower point total determines the time of the selection appointments. When are season ticket invoices due? Both the season tickets and Blue & Gold Fund donations are due by July 31. Tickets will be mailed approximately two weeks prior to the first game. What if I need accessible seating due to a disability? How do I make a gift to the Blue & Gold Fund? Making a gift to the Blue & Gold Fund is easy. Gifts can be made by calling the Blue & Gold Fund at 414-288-3988 or visiting gomarquette.com by clicking the Getting Involved Tab and selecting Blue & Gold Fund. All donations, including matching gifts, must be received by April 30, 2013 to be included in the priority point calculation for the 2013 Reseating. Why are there so many seats already taken by the time I get to choose seats? Season ticket holders with higher point totals have already selected seats. Marquette also reserves seats for various internal needs, including recruits, players’ families, students and the band. Can I get my same seats that I had for the previous season? Yes, if they are available at the time of your assigned appointment time. Where can I view my priority point account? Priority points can be viewed on your MyMarquette Account, which is accessible through gomarquette.com. If you would like to see a detailed point statement or have questions about your priority point account, please call the Blue & Gold Fund at 414-288-3988. |
