2010-11: Did not compete in the indoor season...During the outdoor season, recorded a personal best of 51.61 seconds in the 400-meter dash to place sixth at the DePaul Division I Invitational (April 16)...Also ran the 400 at the Lee Calhoun Invitational (April 9), recording a 20th-place finish in 51.64 seconds...Competed in the 200-meter dash at Cincinnati's Oliver Nikoloff Invitational (April 17) and recorded a time of 23.12 seconds...Ran in the 1,600-meter relay twice with a top time of 3:20.71 at the USF Bulls Invitational (March 18, Stengel-Schmitz-Avant-Winter).

HHigh School: Avant comes to Marquette as a four-time letterwinner in track and field at Neuqua Valley High School where he earned all-state recognition in 2009 at the IHSA State 3A meet. At the state meet, Avant helped the 1,600-meter relay squad to a state title, while also helping the 3,200-meter relay team to a third-place finish. Individually, Avant finished fourth in the 400-meter dash after winning his sectional race earlier in the year. Avant was an AAU national qualifier in the 400, the 400-meter relay and the 1,600-meter relay in 2009.
