Outdoor (So.): Set personal-best performances in both the 200 meters and 400 meters during his sophomore outdoor season ... Finished in fifth place in the 200 meters at the BIG EAST Championships with a time of 22.61 seconds in the driving wind and rain, following a PR during prelims with a time of 21.99 seconds under fair conditions ... Took eighth place in the 400 meters with a time of 50.72 seconds following a PR prelim time of 49.29 seconds ... Ran the second leg on the 4x100-meter relay that eclipsed the school-record numerous times, including most recently at the Wisconsin Alumni Classic (May 5) with a time of 40.71 seconds (w/ Word, Boos, Bell) ... Also ran the second leg on the second-fastest 4x200-meter relay team in school history, recording a time of 1:26.66 (w/ Word, Boos, Bell) at the Drake Relays (April 28).

Indoor (Fr.): Competed in the 60-, 200-, 300- and 400-meter dashes and the 4x400-meter relay ... Took third place at the BIG EAST Championships in the 4x400-meter relay as a third leg with Boos, Rice and Ebert (3:17.24) ... The same 4x400-meter relay team set a No. 2 all-time record at Marquette with a time of 3:15.58 at the Meyo Invitational (February 6) ... Won the 4x400-meter relay at the John Tierney Quadrangular (January 23) ... Took ninth in the 400-meter dash at the BIG EAST Championships (50.23 seconds) ... Placed third overall in the 200-meter dash at the Blue & Gold Invitational (December 4) with a time of 22.24 seconds, good enough for the seventh fastest time in program history ... Took 13th at the BIG EAST Championships in the 200-meter dash, running it in 22.55 seconds.
Outdoor (Fr.): Set a school record with his 4x200-meter relay team (w/ Boos, Bell, and Ebert) with a time of 1:26.12 at the Drake Relays (April 29) ... Placed top-ten in the BIG EAST Championships in both the 400-meter dash (seventh - 50.98 seconds) and the 4x400-meter relay (third - 3:17.44) ... Placed second with his 4x100-meter relay team at the Cal State LA Twilight Open (April 14) with a time of 42.01 seconds ... Took fifth place at the Drury Hotels Joey Haines Invite in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:31.08 ... Prior to Marquette: Whalen was two-year letterwinner in track and field at Glasgow High School (Newark, Delaware) ... Was elected team captain during his junior and senior seasons ... Garnered numerous accolades including: Athlete of the Month, Athlete of the Year, Academic Athlete of the Month, Most Outstanding Athlete, Sportsmanship Award, Coaches Award, and Pride Award ... Won conference championship in the 400-meter dash and 200-meter dash ... Qualified for the Junior Olympics ... Also played football during his sophomore season.
