"We are very excited to add John to our men's pole vault crew this year, coming all the way from Dallas, Texas. John is a very hard-working individual who made a foot improvement from his junior to senior years. Currently, his PR of 15'6" would rank him third in Marquette history outdoors. With continued technique and speed development, I am excited to see John become a 16-plus foot vaulter in the very near future."

High School: Kaplan earned four letters in track and field at Dallas Jesuit College Prep ... Holds a personal best of 15 feet, six inches ... District pole vault champion as both a junior and senior ... Placed fifth in regionals as a junior for the 5A division ... Won the regional qualifier as a senior and placed fourth at the Region II-5A finals ... Also played football for two seasons.
