She won the provincial title with a toss of 51.91 meters and holds a lifetime-best mark of 52.06 meters. Kennedy qualified for the 2011 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships with a second-place finish in the hammer throw at the Canadian Junior Championships. Her mark of 51.64 meters was a little more than a meter behind the eventual junior national champion, Joanna Franke-Kuhn, whom she joined on the Canadian squad. Kennedy competed as a junior with the Richmond Kajaks Track and Field Club, which earned the top-three finishes in the women's hammer throw at the Canadian championships. She was coached by Richard Collier with Kajaks. |
