Marquette's track & field athletes not only have to focus their preparations on the 2013 BIG EAST Championships, but have to balance that with looking ahead to final exams.
2011-12: Marquette Women's Track & Field Most Improved Indoor (So.): Koeck participated in the weight throw and the shot put in the indoor season, focusing mainly on the weight throw ... Competed in the weight throw six times, including at the BIG East Conference Indoor Championships (Feb. 18) where she had a personal-best toss of 51-09.00 (15.77 meters), which is the 10th best in school history ... Finished third at the Milwaukee Dual (Jan. 20) meet ... Also participated in the Bill Bergan Invitational (Jan. 28), Badger Track Classic (Jan. 14), the Hoosier Hills Invitational (Feb. 10) and the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 3) ... 2010-11: BIG EAST All-Academic Indoor (Fr.):Achieved personal records in the shot put at the UW Parkside Classic (Feb. 4) and weight throw at the Bill Bergan Invitational (Jan. 29) with distances of 40 feet, 4 inches (12.29 meters) and 46-0.50 (14.03 meters), respectively ... Earned her lone indoor meet title in the shot put at the UW Parkside Classic. Outdoor (Fr.): Notched the Marquette freshman hammer throw record at the Oshkosh last chance meet on May 20 with a toss of 156 feet, 2 inches (47.60 meters) ... Competed in the 2011 BIG EAST Outdoor Championships in the discus (131-3/40.02 meters) and hammer throw (116-3/25.44 meters) where she placed 16th and 18th, respectively ... Recorded an outdoor season best of 36-9.75 (11.22 meters) in the shot put at the Lee Calhoun Invitational (April 9) and 140-4 (42.78 meters) at the USF Open (March 11).
High School: Koeck comes to Marquette as a three-sport athlete from Winneconne, Wis., where she earned letters in basketball and volleyball in addition to track and field. At Winneconne High School, Koeck set the school and conference records in both the shot put (131 feet, 6 inches) and discus (38 feet, 11 inches). After finishing fourth in the shot put at the state meet as a freshman, Koeck has qualified each year in the shot and discus, with her highest finish in the discus (second) coming last season. Due to her throwing prowess, Koeck has earned consecutive (2008-09) Eastern Valley Conference Female Athlete of the Year Awards.
