2007-08: Competed in the Illini Open and the Midwestern Collegiate Invite during the cross country season...During the indoor season, finished first in the mile with a time of 4:32.40 at the Badger Track Classic...Won the 800m at the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational in 1:57.56...Set a personal record in the 800m at the Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 1:54.50 and helped his 4x400m relay squad take third place...Recorded a personal record in the 1,000m at the Meyo Invitational, finishing the race in 2:31.32...At the Indiana Relays, set a personal-best in the mile with a time of 4:21.80...Did not compete during the 2007-08 outdoor season. High School: McCarthy was a three-time letterwinner in track and field and cross country... Won the Division II state title in the 800m in 2006 and took third in 2007... As a junior and senior, McCarthy was the track team captain as well as team MVP. Personal: McCarthy was born on November 3, 1988 to Linda and William McCarthy...
