Nick Davis is in his third year of coaching at Marquette, where he oversees the short sprints, hurdles and jumps athletes.

Davis has seen his student-athletes notch 18 top-10 indoor and 14 top-10 outdoor marks in program history, including school records bymen's sprinter Tyler O'Brien in the outdoor 200-meter dash (21.05 seconds) and Carlye Schuh in the women's outdoor long jump (19 feet, 6 inches).

O'Brien's school record 200 time was the fastest in the BIG EAST Conference during the 2011 season and helped him qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, where he placed 25th, one spot out of a place in the NCAA Championships.

In addition to a school record and an appearance at the U.S. Junior Championships in the outdoor long jump, Schuh also recorded the top freshman mark during the 2011 indoor season.

In his first year at Marquette, Davis oversaw the development of Erynn James into a nationally ranked high jumper. James entered the 2010 West Preliminary Round of the NCAA Championships ranked 10th in the region and placed 14th at the meet with a top leap of 5 feet, 8 1/2 inches. She also holds the Marquette indoor and outdoor high jump records.

Milwaukee-native Chanel Franklin recorded the Marquette 100-meter dash freshman record under Davis' guidance in 2010.

Davis competed as a collegian at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he was a four-time Horizon League All-Academic Team member and a Scholar-Athlete with Distinction.

A 10-time Horizon League champion in the high jump and javelin, Davis still holds the conference and UWM records in the high jump and the javelin.

In 2004, Davis earned the Horizon League Athlete of the Year Award in addition to being named the Horizon League Field Events Performer of the Year. As a freshman, Davis was named the league's field events newcomer of the year.

Prior to Marquette, Davis served as an assistant track and field coach at Cedarburg High School.

In addition to his athletic achievements, Davis has been published in numerous journals and has given presentations in academic settings around the world. Davis is an associate lecturer in kinesiology at UWM.

Davis graduated with a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Milwaukee in 2004 and also earned his master's in the same field at UWM in 2007.
