2010-2011:Competed five times in the outdoor 800-meter run with a personal best time of 1:56.33 to place 15th at the Polytan Invitational on April 23 ... Also ran an outdoor PR of 52.39 seconds at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational (April 2) ... Notched personal bests of 1:23.46 in the 600- and 2:30.40 in the 1,000-meter runs at the Milwaukee Dual on Jan. 22 and the Blue and Gold Invitational (Dec. 3), respectively, during the indoor season.

2009-10: During the indoor season ran a top 800-meter time of 1:56.02 at the Meyo Invitational on Feb. 6...Also competed individually in the indoor 400 and 1,000, while competing as a member of the 4x400-meter relay with Jay Emmer, Mike McCarthy and Randey Fisher at the Badger Quad on Jan. 16...Top outdoor time in the 800 was 1:59.32 at the Wisconsin Twilight on May 8.

High School: Schmitz is an eight-time letterwinner, participated in track and field all four years of high school, earned a letter in football in 2007, and basketball in 2007-2009... Schmitz Was awarded All-Metro honorable mention for his record in the 800m in 2008... Also received all-state recognition in the four by 800m relay in 2007 as a prep... Also helped the team win the Kansas 6A team State Championship in 2007, the Sunflower League team Championships in 2007, as well as the regional team championships in 2007 and 2009... Held personal best in the 800m with 156.2, the 100m with 50.2, the four by eight relay with 7:55 and the four by four relay with 3:23.
