"Laura will be making the move from being a 200-400 runner in high school to a 400-800 runner at Marquette. She has very solid speed in the 400, where she qualified for the state meet three times in the event. Combine that with her ability to train for distance, she was a strong runner on her high school cross country team, I foresee a smooth transition to the 800 and success ahead."

High School: Schweikert earned four letters in track and field and three letters in cross country at Palatine High School ... Served as team captain in both sports as a senior ... Team MVP as a senior ... Captured a conference title in the outdoor 400-meter dash as a senior and placed sixth at the IHSA Girls Class 3A State Meet ... Earned all-state honors twice in the 400-meter dash and once in the 4x400-meter relay ... Helped Pirates capture four team indoor conference titles and three outdoor championships ... Team captured a state title in cross country during her sophomore year and a runner-up finish in outdoor track and field ...
