Marquette traveled to Normal, Ill. to participate in the Redbird Open at Illinois State University Friday afternoon and turned in another solid performance.

Junior Brianna Dahm improved on her season best time in the Mile, turning in a first place time of 4:52.45. That time is currently the best in Conference USA this season. Senior Jessica Swan took third in the event with a time of 4:58.10 and junior Jamie Haro took fourth with a time of 5:10.95.

Marquette's female distance runners shined in the 3,000m, placing seven of the top eight finishers. Freshman Alison Sauer set a personal best and finished first in the event with a time of 10:10.70. Freshman Susanna Emond placed second with a time of 10:30.73. Theresa Emond took fourth (10:42.49) and was followed directly by Audrey Schiltz (10:52.63), Leslie Lawton (11:17.90) and Bethany Harry (11:23.30).

Freshman Jon Shaffer finished second in the 400m with a time of 51.03, a personal best. Senior Sandy Fondow continued her strong season with a third place finish in the 800m and a time of 2:17.50.

The Marquette men's 4x400m Relay team turned in its best performance of the season, finishing second with a time of 3:23.44.

On the field, freshman Marianne Junck took first in the High Jump with a mark of 5 feet 3 inches.

Marquette continues its season next Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Northern Iowa Invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
