ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed Friday in their final meet prior to the BIG EAST Indoor Championships at the GVSU Big Meet in Allendale, Mich., at the Kelly Family Sports Center.

“We had a lot of good stuff, especially from the distance crew and the milers,” Marquette head track and field coach Bert Rogers said. “Spencer Agnew had a great race today in the mile and we are excited as the team is building towards the BIG EAST meet next weekend. We are looking forward to getting out there.”

Redshirt senior Spencer Agnew turned in the performance of the day for the Golden Eagles with a second-place finish in the men’s mile. Agnew recorded a personal-best time of 4:05.38, which registers as the third-fastest time in program history behind Keith Hanson and Dave Uhrich. It is also the eighth-best mark in the BIG EAST this indoor season.

MU also received solid performances in the women’s mile from sophomores Kayla Spencer and Kellie Greenwood. Spencer notched a PR of 4:51.91, the sixth-best mark in program history, to place sixth, while Greenwood’s personal best of 4:57.16 positioned her in 14th place.

Sophomore Tatyana Pashibin turned in a height of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches) to place third in the women’s high jump.

Freshman Joel Swanberg placed ninth in the pole vault with a height of 4.52 meters (14 feet, 10 inches) and was 31st in the 60-meter hurdles. Swanberg’s pole vault mark ties him for fifth in program annals with Ed Hoyle.

Sophomore Michael Corr was 12th in the men’s 600-meter run in a personal-best time of 1:23.07.

In the men’s 800, junior Brendan Franz (1:54.09) and sophomore Ryan Shields (1:57.10) recorded PRs to place 18th and 36th, respectively.
