Winter Sets Marquette Indoor 400 Record at Alex Wilson Invitational

Kyle Winter continued his impressive indoor campaign.

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Kyle Winter continued his impressive indoor track and field campaign by setting the Marquette 400-meter dash record with a time of 48.30 seconds Saturday afternoon at the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame at the Loftus Sports Center.

Winter's mark broke the previous Marquette record of 48.32 seconds recorded by Marek Krawzcyk on Jan. 26, 2000 at the Central Collegiate Championships at Kent State. The Wales, Wis., native captured the men's 800-meter run title at the BIG EAST Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 19 at The Armory in New York City.

Redshirt junior Jack Hackett finished 17th in the men's mile with a time of 4:07.64, while Evan Ross placed 27th in 4:12.25. In his last trip to Notre Dame, Hackett won the unseeded men's mile on Feb. 4 at the Meyo Invitational.

In the men's high jump, junior Cheldon Brown placed seventh with a leap of 6 feet, 7 1/2 inches (2.02 meters).

The Golden Eagles open the outdoor season on Thursday, March 15 at the USF Bulls Invitational in Tampa, Fla.
