WALNUT, Calif. – After two delays, the Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams finally began their weekend of competition Thursday evening at the Mt. SAC Relays at historic Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, Calif.

Three student-athletes took part in the 10,000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays with senior Patrick Maag notching a new personal-best time of 30:13.05, the seventh-best mark in program history. Maag placed 17th in the meet, while classmate Connor Callahan finished 30th in 30:55.34.

In the women’s event, sophomore Elisia Meyle placed 18th in a time of 36:52.44, which registers as the second-fastest time of her career.

The Golden Eagles were originally slated to have athletes compete in the hammer throw at Cerritos College on Thursday morning, but were unable to make the event after their travel party was delayed overnight Wednesday in Denver due to weather.

A larger group was also scheduled to compete at Cal State L.A., but a bomb threat called into CSULA resulted in a campus closure and the cancellation of Thursday’s Twilight Open.

The Golden Eagles will resume their trip in Southern California with athletes competing at the Bryan Clay Invitational, The Beach Invitational and the Mt. SAC Relays on Friday morning.
