Marquette Solid in Final Day at Drake Relays
April 26, 2015
After setting a PR and school record in the 5,000-meter run a week ago (which has since been broken by Brittney Feivor) Kellie Greenwood turned in yet another solid performance, this time in the steeplechase. Her time of 10:36.32 set another PR and was the third-fastest time in MU history.
William Hennessy turned in a season best in the steeplechase as well with a time of 9:24.91 to take 16th overall.
The women's sprint medley relay kicked off the final day for Marquette as the team of Terica Harris, Cassy Goodrich, Anna Strong and Nicole Ethier combined to run a 4:01.08, which was the second-fastest time in school history. Harris (26.1 seconds) and Goodrich (24.4 seconds) started it off with a pair of 200s, followed by a Anna Strong with a 400 time of 55.6 seconds and Ethier's 800 clocked at 2:14.75.
Kathryn Koeck had a solid showing in the hammer throw, placing second with a distance of 58.11 meters (190-07).
Due to poor weather conditions, the high jump was moved indoors and Wally Ellenson was able to clear 2.18 meters (7-1.25) to take third place.
The women's distance medley relay team concluded Marquette's entered participants and they turned in the sixth-fastest mark all-time at 11:59.16. Jennifer Parker led off with a 1,200, followed by Katie Tolan (400), Krista McClure (800) and Jessica Parker (1,600).
The Golden Eagles have one tune-up remaining before the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships at Villanova May 8-9. Next week, they will take part in the Dave Rankin Invitational, hosted by Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana May 1-2.
