Krzyszkowski and Pashibin Claim Event Titles at Dave Rankin Invite

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Freshman John Krzyszkowski and sophomore Tatyana Pashibin claimed event titles on Saturday afternoon at Purdue’s Dave Rankin Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind., as the Marquette University men’s and women’s track and field teams wrapped up action at their final meet prior to the BIG EAST Conference Outdoor Championships.
Krzyszkowski won the men’s javelin with a top distance of 59.80 meters (196 feet, 2 inches), while Pashibin captured top honors in the women’s high jump at a height of 1.65 meters (5 feet, 5 inches). Freshman Bridget Bodee recorded the same height as Pashibin but placed third after missing on her first two attempts at the height.
Senior Kristen Gaffey placed fifth in the women’s discus and set the No. 3 mark in Marquette history with a toss of 48.45 meters (158 feet, 11 inches). The Iowa City, Iowa native was also fourth in the shot put at a distance of 13.84 meters (45 feet, 5 inches).
In the men’s high jump, senior Michael Saindon placed third at a height of 2.00 meters (6 feet, 6.75 inches). Freshman Dwayne Dash Jr., also competed in the jumps and was fourth in the men’s long jump with a top leap of 6.74 meters (22 feet, 1.50 inches).
Freshman Abigail Busse and senior Sarah Ball each competed in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase as well as the 800-meter run. Busse was fifth in the steeplechase at a time of 12:04.50, while Ball was ninth in 14:49.10.
In the women’s 5,000-meter run, senior Hannah Frett placed sixth in a time of 18:11.97.
The Golden Eagles return to action on May 10-11 in Villanova, Pa., at the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
